5 cups Apples; peeled and sliced
3/4 cup Sugar
2 tbsp. All-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. Ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp. Salt
1/4 cup Water
1 tsp. Vanilla extract
1 tbsp. Butter or
margarine; softend
1/2 cup All-purpose flour
1/2 cup Sugar
1/2 tsp. Baking powder
1/4 tsp. Salt
2 tbsp. Butter or
margarine; softend
1 Egg; slightly beaten

Instructions

Combine the first 7 ingredients; mix gently. Spoon into a lightly greased 9-inch square baking pan; dot with 1 tablespoon butter. Set aside. Combine remaining ingredients; mix well. Spoon over apple mixture in nine equal portions (batter will spread during baking). Bake at 375 F degrees for 35 to 40 minutes. Yield: 6 servings.
