German Cream Cheese Brownies

8 oz. German sweet chocolate
6 tbsp. butter
4 tbsp. butter, softened
6 oz. cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 tbsp. flour
1 tsp. vanilla
1-1/2 cup sugar
1 cup flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. almond extract
1 cup chopped walnuts

Mint Icing

1 cup Crisco
1 pkg. (1 lb.) powdered sugar
1 tsp. peppermint flavoring
2 tsp. green food coloring
1/3 cup milk
1 tbsp. milk

Instructions

In saucepan, melt together German sweet chocolate and 6 tbsp. butter. Allow to cool. In mixing bowl, cream together 4 tbsp. butter and cream cheese. Add 1/2 cup sugar. Blend in 2 eggs, 2 tbsp. flour and vanilla. Set aside.

To cooled chocolate mixture, add 4 eggs; beat well. Gradually add 1-1/2 cups sugar, 1 cup flour, baking powder, salt, almond extract and nuts. Measure 2 cups of chocolate mixture and set aside.

Spread remaining chocolate batter in a greased 9x13 pan. Top with cream cheese mixture. Drop measured chocolate batter by spoonfuls onto cheese mixture. Swirl with spatula to marble. Bake at 350°F for 35-40 minutes.

Mint Icing:
Cream Crisco and add milk and peppermint flavoring. Then blend in powdered sugar. Blend until smooth. Add green food coloring to make a light green shade. Spread over chocolate cream cheese brownies.

These were absolutely delicious! I made them for a few Xmas parties, and everyone loved them! I only used 1/2 tsp. instead of 2 tsp. green food coloring. Enjoy! :)
