SERVINGS

INGREDIENTS

1/2 cup bulk sausage meat
1 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped red bell pepper
1 lb. canned tomatoes
1 can (6 oz.) tomato paste
1 dash hot pepper sauce, or to taste
1 dash pepper
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup uncooked rice
2 cups water

INSTRUCTIONS

Fry sausage until brown, breaking up meat with a fork. Add onion and bell pepper and cook additional three minutes. Add remaining ingredients; mix well. Cover and cook over low heat until rice is tender and liquid is absorbed.

I had been craving this dish for some years before getting the recipe from your site. My mom used to make this when we lived in the Bronx some years ago. She is older and forgot the recipe. My sister was visiting me and tried to make it, but failed. I Googled and found this recipe and made it using more meat. Just the taste that I was looking for. My mom was over and ate some and told me that it tasted just like her's! Thanks so much for posting; I've emailed it to my sister to make. April 6, 2010
