INGREDIENTS

1/2 cup butter
1 cup sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
1 cup flour
2 to 4 cups peaches, including juice
1 cup milk

INSTRUCTIONS

Place butter in a large casserole dish and place in oven. Heat oven to 350°F. As the butter melts in the oven, mix flour, milk, baking powder and sugar together until smooth. Measure out 2-4 cups of fruit including juice (Use slightly less juice than fruit). When butter is melted and casserole is hot, quickly pour in the batter, then pour the fruit over the top. The fruit will sink to the bottom as it bakes. Bake for 1 hour, until brown and bubbly. Let it cool about 1/2 hour before serving to let the juices congeal.

CHEF COMMENTS

Tastes great with really good vanilla ice cream. Can be made with any other fruit.

This is excellent. I tried this recipe today, the cobbler is delicious. It is easy, not too sweet, the peach/dough ratio is perfect. Usually you get too much of one thing in a cobbler. Rich and wonderful! My compliments. Would be wonderful with any fruit. August 4, 2003

Good recipe. I made it using 3 cups (will probably use 2 - 2.5 next time) of frozen blackberries. I cooked it for only 50 minutes and had to cover it about halfway through to keep it from browning too much. My husband loves blackberry cobbler and thought it was the greatest. April 5, 2004

Awesome cobbler. Easy and scrumptious. Even a non-baker like me has my family bowled over! August 14, 2004

One of the easiest dishes I've ever prepared. It was really good as is, but next time I'll add 1 tsp. cinnamon and 1/4 tsp. nutmeg. July 21, 2005

Fantastic! You pretty much can't make a mistake with this one. I've tried many a cobbler recipe, this is the one that worked, again and again. August 22, 2005

This cobbler was delicious and very easy to bake! My boyfriend was absolutely stuffed after dinner, but yet managed to eat 2 full bowls of the cobbler. I added Jamaican rum, cinnamon and vanilla extract to mine. I also made it with bananas and strawberries, vanilla extract and Kalhua...it was awesome! September 1, 2006

Sensational! Easy, no fuss recipe. I constantly have people request this dessert from me. Also, i make it with fresh white peaches in the summer. You can easily replace the peaches with berries and other stonefruits. November 11, 2006
