INGREDIENTS

1-1/2 cups water
1-1/2 tsp. salt
3 tbsp. olive oil
1 lg. egg, lightly beaten (optional)
4 cups white flour
3 tbsp. sugar
2 tbsp. instant skim milk powder
2 tsp. yeast
Garlic powder
Onion powder
Parsley
Basil
Rosemary
Feta cheese
Parmesan cheese
Coarse salt

INSTRUCTIONS

Put ingredients in bread machine in order above. Set to "dough" setting. When it is ready, cut the dough in half, spread into circles on baking sheets or pizza pans. Brush lightly with olive oil. Sprinkle on garlic powder, onion powder, parsley flakes, basil, rosemary, feta or parmesan cheese (or both!) and a little coarse salt. Bake in an oven preheated to 450°F for 10-12 minutes. Enjoy with soup, cheese or Italian style with balsamic vinegar and olive oil (equal parts) swirled in a saucer.

CHEF COMMENTS

I recently bought a breadmaker. Although I LOVE to knead bread, I haven't had the time for, ohh...10 or so years to do it regularly. My two growing teens adore this focaccia bread recipe that I adapted from various sources.

There should be a space before the seasonings, just for those who have no idea what they should do. Are there any more goodies that can be put into this dough before you bake it? April 2, 2000

This is a great recipe. My variation is to add all the ingredients except for the cheeses and salt. The bread machine does a great job blending everything, and you get a taste of everything, in every bite June 29, 2000

Try adding a few snipped sun-dried tomatoes before baking. My son loves it. September 30, 2002

This is so good. My boys, 3 and 6, love to add the toppings ... almost as much as they love to eat it. Thanks! October 9, 2002

My wife said,"wow this is next to orgasmic." I'm not sure I completely understood, but it was some of the finest bread I have ever eaten. Thank You! Wayne January 2, 2005
