Goan Fish Gheezad

Servings: 12 servings

INGREDIENTS

12 steaks of some large fish (such as king fish, pomfret)
2 onions, sliced
2 tomatoes, sliced
4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
5 green chilies, finely chopped
1 tbsp. garam masala
1 tbsp. vinegar
1/4 tsp. tamarind concentrate in 1/2 cup water
1/4 tsp. sugar
2 tbsp. oil
Salt, to taste

INSTRUCTIONS

Salt the fish and set aside. Heat oil in a pan. Put in the onion and sauté it until transparent. Add tomatoes, garlic and green chilies and cook for 3 minutes. Add garam masala and vinegar and stir-fry for another minute. Place fish steaks in pan and add tamarind water, salt and sugar. Cook on a slow fire, shaking the pan every now and then, for 15 minutes. Serve hot with boiled vegetables.
