Cheese Boxes

INGREDIENTS

1/2 lb. butter, at room temperature
1/2 lb. grated sharp cheddar cheese
1 tbsp. cream
Salt, to taste
1 lg. egg white, unbeaten
Tabasco, to taste
1 loaf white bread, unsliced

INSTRUCTIONS

Cream cheese and butter until smooth; add unbeaten egg white and the cream. Mix until smooth. Add salt and tabasco to taste. Chill until mixture can be easily spread.

Remove crusts from one loaf of unsliced bread and cut the bread in one-inch cubes. Spread five sides of the bread cubes with cheese mixture. Place sixth side down on cookie sheet and bake in preheated 375°F oven for 15 minutes or until golden brown. Can be made ahead of time and frozen until ready to bake.
