INGREDIENTS
1/3 cup of shortening or butter
1/3 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
2/3 cup sorghum molasses
3-1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger powder
3 tbsp. white sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. vanilla
INSTRUCTIONS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Cream shortening, sugars, and eggs. Add molasses. Beat well. Sift together flour, salt, soda, and spices and stir into batter. Add vanilla last.
Roll 1/2 inch on floured board. Bake on greased cookie sheet for 8 to 10 minutes. Store in stone jar. To keep cookies soft, put slice of white bread or half an apple on top.
