Dot's Easy Coconut Cake

INGREDIENTS

1 pk yellow cake mix
2 cups sugar
1 cup milk
14 oz coconut
1 medium tub of whipped topping

INSTRUCTIONS

Prepare cake mix and bake in 13x9-inch banking pan according to cake mix box instructions (usually about 35-40 minutes at 350°F). When cake tests done, remove cake from oven and poke holes in cake with wooden spoon handle.

Cook sugar, milk, 1/2 of coconut until sugar melts. Pour over warm cake.

When cool, frost with whipped topping and remaining coconut. Refrigerate.

Even better if made 1 - 2 days ahead.

My mother-in-law made this cake when I brought home my newborn twins from the hospital. They are 22 years old now and we still love this cake! Very rich!
