Chocolate Slices (Refrigerator Cookie)

6 dozen scale / convert

INGREDIENTS

1 cup shortening
2 squares unsweetened chocolate, melted
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
2 eggs
1-1/2 tsp. vanilla
2-3/4 cups flour
1/2 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt

INSTRUCTIONS

Mix shortening, melted chocolate and sugars, add eggs, vanilla; mix thoroughly. Blend dry ingredients together and mix into shortening mixture. Press and mold into a long smooth roll about 2-1/2-inches diameter. Wrap in waxed paper and chill several hours or overnight. Cut into thin slices and place slightly apart on ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 400°F 6 to 8 minutes or until lightly browned.
