Dark Chocolate Cinnamon Gingersnaps

INGREDIENTS
1 Cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 Cup molasses
3/4 shortening
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 egg
2 3/4 Cups flour
1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon ginger
dark chocolate kisses candy
cinnamon-sugar mixture
INSTRUCTIONS
Heat oven to 375°F. In large bowl, combine brown sugar, shortening, and molasses; beat at medium speed until smooth. Add egg. Beat well. Add flour, baking soda, ginger and cinnamon; beat until well mixed. Shape dough into 1-inch balls, roll in cinnamon-sugar mix, place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375°F for 9 minutes, immediately press one candy into center of each cookie. Place in refrigerator or other cool place until cookie is cool and chocolate is set.
