Servings: 1 quart

INGREDIENTS

1 ripe guava, peeled and chopped
15 ounces tomato sauce
6 ounces tomato paste
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup brown sugar twin
2 tbsp. liquid smoke
2 tbsp. fresh lemon juice
1 tbsp. pickapeppa sauce (may sub Worcestershire sauce)
1 tbsp. habanero pepper sauce (this is hot- so amount to taste)
1 tbsp. garlic powder
1 tbsp. onion powder
1 tsp. tamarind paste (may sub molasses)
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. black pepper

INSTRUCTIONS

Whisk ingredients together in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Lower heat, cover, and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Puree cooled sauce in a food processor for a smoother texture, if desired. Refrigerate or freeze any unused portions.

CHEF COMMENTS

This sauce is only lightly sweet, to keep the carbs down. Taste it,
and if you need it sweeter, add more brown sugar or brown sugar twin.
Goes great on anything you would use your regular bbq sauce on. Baste
meat with sauce towards end of grilling.
