Servings: 8 servings

INGREDIENTS

1 8-oz pkg cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup finely diced onions
13-15 oz Cincinnati-style chili, heated
8 oz shredded cheddar cheese

INSTRUCTIONS

Spread softened cream cheese evenly on bottom of an 8x8-inch baking pan. Sprinkle with finely diced onions. Layer heated chili over the onions and cream cheese. Top evenly with the cheddar.

Heat in 350°F oven for 10 minutes. Let stand 5-10 minutes before serving. Serve with corn chips or tortilla chips for dipping, and a bottle of cayenne pepper hot sauce (such as Frank's or Crystal) on the side.

CHEF COMMENTS

Cincinnati chili is a little different from Texas style chili, and has middle eastern origins. Usually this type of chili is served with hot dogs or over spaghetti. Where I live in Ohio, you can sometimes find hot dog flavored potato chips to use with this dip, which is great. But it is good with other types of chips as well.
