Blend sugar and shortening together. Add eggs, vanilla and sour milk. Blend. In a separate bowl mix together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Slowly add to wet mixture. Blend thoroughly. Drop by tablespoon and flatten slightly. Bake at 350°F for 10-12 minutes on an ungreased cookie sheet.

Blend butter until fluffy. Add powdered sugar and blend. Add milk and vanilla, blend. Add cocoa (for chocolate frosting), blend. Ice cookies partially white, then partially dark to achieve a moon look -- whether half moon, waxing or waning, it's up to you!

CHEF COMMENTS

*(1 teaspoon vinager to 1 cup milk)
** Do this 2x once for vanilla and once for chocolate.

I make 10-14 big cookies or about 12 dozen little cookies with this recipe.

You can add more or less powdered sugar to achieve the desired consistency. Just don't add to much!
