Instead of regular semi-sweet chocolate chips try using mini chocolate chips to avoid a bitter chocolate taste. Also use half the recommended amount of chips. Over all this is a fun and yummy dessert to make. December 30, 2006

You need to add a tbsp. of vanilla extract to the wet ingredients to give the cake the real taste of a chocolate chip cookie. Plus, be advised that these amounts make only enough for one layer of a standard round cake. And the layer is relatively flat so if you want a double layer cake you have to make the recipe twice. If you want a high cake you'll have to make the recipe three times! January 3, 2009
