I guess capers are a little more common over here, they appear in many european countries cuisines, usually to offset richness. You could leave them out of this recipe, but it wouldn't really taste the same, if you wash the capers it does take some of the edge off the flavour which may help though. Tomb, if the sauce tasted bitter it sounds like you took the butter a little too far, there's a definite point where the butter begins to burn slightly and take on a harsh bitter flavour. Sorry the dish didn't turn out as you expected though :/ October 24, 2004

I have to try this now I found it as I have a similar-ish recipe on this site, though mine is just dredged in spicy flour. Have you tried marinating in chilli oil & then coating in tempura? A restaurant near me does it that way but I haven't quite perfected that yet. October 22, 2004

Johanna, from your criticisms, I'd suggest perhaps you should review your own cooking first, undercooked vegetables, and mushy noodles are down to timing, and as angel didn't give these I'd suggest a touch of introspection before you just jump in there with the insults. October 19, 2004
